Founded in the fall of 2010 by six inspired sophomores, Keynotes is the newest co-ed a cappella group at the University of Pennsylvania. From the beginning, we’ve brought our signature spunk and spirit to Penn’s a cappella scene. Now, as an established group on campus, Keynotes constantly finds opportunities to make and perform music in an impressive array of venues. In 2015, on the heels of a stellar year that included performances all over Philadelphia, we released our debut EP, Never Forget Your First. In 2016, we embarked on our first-ever East Coast tour, and produced another professionally recorded single (forthcoming).
Keynotes is known for maintaining a diverse repertoire, covering genres ranging from classic rock to indie pop to R&B. Rather than committing to just one style of music, we focus on producing innovative and unexpected arrangements of whatever is inspiring us at any given moment – be it Billy Joel, Sara Bareilles, or Blu Cantrell. We’re also fast friends with an explosive GroupMe and a penchant for singing karaoke just a little too enthusiastically.
